Many publishers require publication fees for Open Access publications, so-called Article Processing Charges (APC), from the authors or their institutions. The University Library of the LMU has concluded framework contracts or memberships with some publishers, through which a publication can be published at a reduced price.

The requirements for authorisation to use the agreement in both, publishing in Hybrid and Gold Open Access, are:

  • The Submitting Corresponding Author is an active member of the LMU.
  • The LMU is stated as the main affiliation in the article.
  • Most of the research was carried out at the LMU.

When specifying your affiliation, please refer to the official name of the university: "Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München" (https://ror.org/05591te55) or LMU Klinikum (https://ror.org/02jet3w32) or "Klinikum der Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München". Of course, you can also add institute, clinic, center, working group, etc.
For better identification of affiliation please use your institutional e-mail address. For further information on the name of the university, please refer to the letter from the President of LMU: Designation of LMU Munich in publications

Before submitting, be critical about the trustworthiness and integrity of a journal.
