Other users (non-members of the LMU)

Topping up the LMUcard and the Legic-Karte
At the charging stations
Charging stations are located in all the Mensen (refectories) and StuCafés run by the Studentenwerk München (Munich Student Services Office) at the LMU and TU in Munich, and in the CIP-Pool 1 (computer pool) in the Zentralbibliothek (Main library). You can find your nearest charging point by checking the list of charging stations for the Legic-Karte.
As a rule, you can top up your credit using cash. The cash pay-stations accept 5, 10, 20 and 50 Euro notes but no coins. Only the vending machine in the CIP-Pool 1 takes coins. In the Mensen (refectories), you can top up your credit using a debit card.
The University Library is currently endeavouring to obtain more charging stations for individual library locations.

Automatic charging using direct debit ("Autoload")
The Autoload system ensures that you always have sufficient credit on your Legic-Karte. As soon as your credit falls below a certain level it is automatically topped up again.
Please note: Topping up your Legic-Karte using Autoload is only possible at the cash desk in a Mensa or a StuCafé. Automatic top-up is not available at the copy machines.
If you wish to use Autoload please register at one of the Infopoints in the Studentenwerk (Student Services Office). When you register you will have to grant the Student Services Office a direct debit mandate.
Returning your Legic-Karte
If you no longer require your Legic-Karte you can return in at one of the Studentenwerk's service offices/infopoints. Any remaining credit will be refunded in cash and your deposit returned, provided the card is not damaged.
Cards bought at card dispensers can be returned at the vending machine in the computer pool CIP-Pool 1. The deposit and remaining credit will be refunded in coins.
Who to contact if you have problems with your Legic-Karte
If you are having problems with your Legic-Karte or need to exchange a faulty card, please contact one of the service offices/infopoints, StuCafés, Espresso-Bars or StuBistros run by the Studentenwerk (Student Services Office).
In order to help identify your card, please note the number printed on it. Using this number you can have the card blocked by the Studentenwerk and apply for a refund of the remaining credit.
