Workspace reservation

Workspaces are available at all the University Library's locations. Some of these workspaces can be reserved for members of the LMU.

In the Subject Libraries some workspaces can be reserved for members of the respective faculties – in the Fachbibliothek Rechtswissenschaft for students of the Law Faculty, for instance, or in the Fachbibliothek Philologicum for students of the Faculty of Languages and Literature. Workspaces in the General Reading Room can be reserved for all LMU members, regardless of faculty.

You can also access all locations without first making a reservation. In every library numerous workspaces are available for which you do not need a reservation.

How to make a reservation

  1. Open the reservation system, for example by clicking on the appropriate blue button in the right-hand service column.
  2. You will be directed to the LMU login page. Log in using your LMU user ID.
  3. Select your faculty (called a "Community" in the reservation system) from the list on the left (or at the bottom if you are using a smartphone).
  4. Choose the desired day, time-slot and workspace.
  5. Review the details and save your entry.
  6. To claim your reserved workspace you will first need to check in. 15 minutes before your reserved time-slot begins, you will receive an e-mail to your LMU mail address, containing a check-in link. If you do not check in, your reservation will be cancelled 30 minutes after the start of the reserved time-slot.

Guidelines

  • You must use an LMU user ID to make your reservation. You cannot reserve workspaces for third parties.
  • You can choose the length of the time-slot to suit your individual needs. Time-slots between 30 minutes and four hours are possible.
  • If you do not check in, your reservation will be automatically cancelled 30 minutes after the start of the reserved time-slot.
  • Even if you have reserved back-to-back time-slots, you must check in again at the beginning of each successive time-slot.
  • Reservations can be made up to seven days in advance.

How to cancel a reservation

If you have reserved a workspace but do not want to use the booking, please cancel it to make the workspace available to other users.

  1. Click on the link in the e-mail confirming your booking (you may have to log into the reservations system)
  2. Click on "Cancel" to cancel the workspace reservation.

Visiting scholars at the LMU

Visiting researchers can also use the reservations system. Simply send an e-mail to the appropriate Subject Library for your discipline.
