The default password is your date of birth as a six-digit number in the form ddmmyy. For example, if your birthday is June 9 1991 then your password will be 090691.
You will need to change the password at your first login.
When choosing your new password, please make sure you do not include umlauts (ä, ö, ü), the character eszett (ß), or the special characters ° and €, as these are not recognised by the self-check machines. We recommend that you use a German keyboard when setting your password. For upper and lower-case letters please press the shift key on the self-check machine's keyboard. Afterwards, make sure you press this key again to deactivate it, as it remains active once it has been pressed.
