Borrowing from the Subject Libraries

Please note the current lending conditions and terms of use:

LMU and TU students have the temporary option to borrow books and other media from the open access collections in any of the Subject Libraries. Please note that some collections in the Subject Libraries (e.g. reference books, loose-leaf works, journals) are for reference only.

The loan period of media from the open access collection is 2 weeks. The loan period can be renewed up to 4 times for 2 weeks each time provided no other user has placed a reservation. A maximum of 10 copies can be borrowed from the open access collection of the Subject Libraries.

Please note: Students cannot borrow books from the Subject Library Rechtswissenschaft.

Loan collection and open access collection

Lending conditions vary amongst the Subject Libraries of the University Library.

The LMU Subject Libraries generally house both loan and reference collections. The reference collections consist of an open access and a core collection.

  • The loan collection (primarily textbooks) is available for loan by all members of the LMU, including the students and academic staff of cooperating institutions.
  • The open access collection may only be borrowed by the academic staff and postgraduates of the University.
  • The core collection (e.g. reference works) is not available for loan.

At some locations parts of the loan collection are housed in the stacks and must be ordered via the online catalogue.

You will normally need a LMUcard or a personal University Library card to borrow books from the Subject Libraries.top
