You should always return media to the library from which they have been borrowed.
Returns during the library's opening hours
- Zentralbibliothek (Main Library): at the self-service return machine in the Circulation Hall
- Zentrale Lehrbuchsammlung (Central Textbook Collection): at the returns desk
- Subject Libraries: at the returns desk at which you borrowed the media
Please check the receipt which you receive when you return the item. Check to see whether all the media you have returned have been correctly checked back into the library. Please keep the receipt as legal proof of return in case of dispute.
Returns outside the opening hours
Media borrowed from the Zentralbiblbiothek (Main Library) can be returned outside the Library's opening hours.
The book drop is situated opposite the entrance to CIP Pool 1 (Computer Pool 1). Please note that a returns receipt will not be issued and that your media will not be checked back into the Library until the next working day.
The book drop is accessible during the opening hours of the LMU main building:
Mon – Fri 8 am – 12 midnight
Sat – Sun 9 am – 10 pm
Self-service return machine
The self-service return machine is situated in the Circulation Hall, opposite to the information desk. Please place the items to be returned one at a time in the self-service return machine. After completing the process, you can print a returns receipt.
The self-service return machine is accessible during the opening hours of the Circulation Hall:
Mon – Fri 06.30 am – 22.00 pm

Returning media for another user
You do not need the original borrower's library card to return an item. Please note that the original borrower is personally responsible for the correct return of the book.
